A newborn calf rides on its mother's head
The calves are about 12-14 feet long when born. A humpback's birth has never been witnessed This tiny calf practices opening its mouth and filling it with water as he continues to ride on his mother's head These calves drink their mother's thick, fat-rich milk and put on over a hundred pounds a day. By the time they leave the Silver Bank to head north they have grown to 14-15 feet in length
