2009 06 11 87635 goes on and on! She's still on course for Norway! Print E-mail

87635, a humpback whale with a calf that was tagged in April on the Silver Bank in Dominican Republic by NOAA is still transmitting a couple of months later. Although the satellite tag didn't work the first few weeks, and we don't know if she passed by Bermuda or not, it is now sending back invaluable information on its migratory route. She is now some distance out to sea, west of Ireland, and following her recent trajectory, would be headed for the west coast of Norway. Elsa and I have booked out tickets to Oslo and Bergen!
