2010 08 22- NOAA tags a dozen humpback whales off New Caledonia in the South Pacific Print

In addition to the North Pacific and North Atlantic satellite-tagged whales, NOAA has a dozen humpback whales satellite tagged and working off New Caledonia in the South Pacific, in a collaborative study with Claire Garrigue.

"The New Caledonia positions have started to get interesting.  Two humpback whales appear to be migrating in the general direction of Norfolk Island (we've seen this before in a previous study we ran with Claire Garrigue a few years back).  Two others have looped way out west/southwest and are going who knows where - the Coral Sea?"
