2011 02 11- A match of one our Bermuda whales to one last week on the Silver Bank Print E-mail
Written by Andrew Stevenson

This just looks like a pretty photo I took last week of a whale fluke diving on the Silver Bank in the Caribbean but for us whale spotters, this photo converted into a match to one of 'our' Bermuda whales. Watch how this happens...

I zoom in and turn the image 180 degrees upside down and then lighten the image. If you look carefully, you can see it matches our photo below taken on the 12th of March 2009 on Challenger Bank here in Bermuda. It also matches to the North Atlantic Humpback Whale Catalogue containing some 7,000 individual fluke ids. NAHWC #6151 was first identified in 1999 in Newfoundland.

I often forget people's names, I even forget their faces, but I never forget a pretty whale's tail.

Sick puppy.
