Other whale research

“Outside of the humpback season I also conduct bottlenose dolphin research with help from my two kids, Elsa and Somers. We identify the dolphins by obtaining photos of their dorsal fins which have tiny nicks in the trailing edge. To date we have identified some 114 individual dolphins. The database is shared with researchers in Florida.”

“We also conduct Cuvier beaked whale research, identifying individuals by the scars on their backs with photos taken from the boat and drone. GPS positions logged each time we find Cuviers enables us to locate them with regularity. We have obtained aerial footage of the Cuviers on numerous occasions.”
